Ghost Recon Wildlands Returns with a Major Free Last Rites Update
Ubisoft brought Ghost Recon Wildlands back into the spotlight on August 6, 2026 as part of the franchise's 25th-anniversary celebration. The free Last Rites update adds new content and restores elements that had been absent for years.
What does the update include?
Wildlands can now run at 4K and 60 frames per second on current-generation consoles. The update adds a new mission arc involving a villain using the name La Llorona and brings back the Predator crossover mission that had previously been removed.
Hundreds of free customization items are included as well, covering unreleased and formerly gated content. Ubisoft paired the celebration with a free-play period and discounts across parts of the series.
Investing in a game years after release demonstrates the value of long-lived open-world communities. Ubisoft also confirmed that a new Ghost Recon title is in development, making Last Rites a bridge between the franchise's history and its next chapter.
